Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 10, 2026
At Spinner-Wheels.com, we prioritize your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. Because our application is designed to run entirely client-side, we do not collect, store, or sell your personal details. This Privacy Policy details how we handle data when you visit and use our website and tools.
1. Client-Side Architecture and Your Content
Spinner-Wheels.com operates as a client-side web application. This means all the options, names, labels, weights, colors, and configuration settings of the custom wheels you create are processed directly inside your web browser. We do not transmit your customized wheel options or titles to our servers, nor do we store them on any remote database. You retain full control over your data because it never leaves your machine.
2. Local Database Storage (IndexedDB and LocalStorage)
To provide a smooth, persistent user experience without requiring user accounts or registrations, we use local storage technologies within your browser:
- **IndexedDB**: We store your custom spinner wheels in an IndexedDB database on your device. This database holds the wheel lists, segment items, weight ratios, customized colors, and creation/edit dates that populate your "My Wheels" menu.
- **LocalStorage**: We use LocalStorage to store basic interface preferences, such as your theme choice (Light Mode vs. Dark Mode), audio mute toggle states, and the identifier of your currently active wheel.
Important Data Notice: Because this database resides strictly on your local browser profile, clearing your browser history, deleting cookies, or resetting site data will permanently wipe all your custom wheels. We recommend using our client-side **Export (CSV, TXT, JSON)** buttons to save backup copies of your lists on your own computer.
3. How "Share via Link" Works (Zero-Server-Transmission Sharing)
When you click "Share via Link", our tool generates a shareable URL that encodes your current wheel state. We do this entirely locally inside your browser:
- The list options, weights, and styling parameters are compiled and compressed using your browser's native compression API (or a fallback base64 encoder).
- The compressed string is appended directly to the URL as a query parameter (e.g., `?data=XYZ`).
- No wheel data is sent to our servers or stored in any external database when you generate a link. The shared link itself contains the complete layout data of the wheel. When someone opens your shared link, their browser decompresses the query parameter locally to rebuild the wheel.
4. Non-Tracking Cookies and Google Analytics
We do not use tracking cookies for targeted advertising, behavior profiling, or identifying individual users. We may load standard web analytics scripts (such as anonymized Google Analytics) solely to collect high-level, aggregate visitor statistics. This includes metrics such as page views, device types, operating systems, and general geographic regions. We use this information strictly to optimize page load speeds, fix layout issues on different devices, and monitor overall site traffic.
5. Embeddable Wheels (Iframe Integration)
If you embed a custom wheel on your own website using our iframe embed code, the embed page (`embed.html`) inherits the same privacy-preserving features. The embed view operates client-side and does not track the actions or collect the personal data of visitors to the host website.
6. External Links and Feedback Forms
Our "Feedback" link redirects you to an external Google Forms page. Any feedback, feature requests, or messages you submit via that form are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We only collect the information you voluntarily choose to provide in the form, and we use it solely to guide future updates and bug fixes for the platform.
7. Children's Privacy
Since we do not collect, request, or store any personal data or account registrations, Spinner-Wheels.com is safe for classrooms and users of all ages, including children under 13. No personal information is gathered, stored, or transmitted to any server.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect modifications in browser storage technologies or web analytics. Any updates will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date.
9. Contact Information
If you have questions regarding this Privacy Policy or browser-based data storage, you may contact us using the official feedback form linked in the main menu.
